CARPET CARE

REMOVING COMMON STAINS
  • Always address the affected area right away.
  • For an accident involving food, lift and remove the solid material with a utensil. Then, use a little water and blot. Use a small amount of detergent if necessary. Finally, thoroughly vacuum the area. Repeat if needed.
  • When using a spot removal solvent, choose products approved by The Carpet and Rug Institute of America. Test the product in an inconspicuous area of carpet first. If the color fades, consult a professional carpet cleaner.
CARPET MAINTENANCE
  • Vacuum carpet regularly so dirt does not become embedded.
  • Schedule professional cleaning annually.
  • Use scissors to clip snags. Never pull on them — you risk damaging the carpet.
  • If you experience extensive water damage, consult with a professional.

LAMINATE & WOOD CARE

BASIC MAINTENANCE
  • Use a dust mop, soft bristle broom or a vacuum cleaner compatible with hardwood and laminate to remove dust, dirt and loose particles regularly.
  • For slightly damp cleaning, spray a product specifically for hardwood & laminate onto a cotton, terrycloth, or microfiber mop. Do not clean with a wet-mop.
  • Be mindful of UV rays coming through windows that can cause flooring to fade, and use protective window coverings accordingly.
PREVENTING DAMAGE
  • Use acetone-based fingernail polish remover to remove difficult stains (like paint, oil, tar, or markers).
  • Wipe up spills and spots immediately with a hardwood or laminate flooring cleaner; applying directly to area. Do not spray cleaner directly on floor for general care.
  • Use ice to harden tough substances like wax or gum, carefully scrape with a plastic scraper or a credit card. Go over the area with a slightly damp cloth.

TILE CARE

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
  • Damp-mop your tile floor a minimum of once each week to reduce wear and tear from dirt and debris. Avoid cleaners with acid or bleach for basic maintenance.
  • Use sealants on grout joints only. Do not use wax-based cleaners and oil-based detergents. It is safe to use everyday multipurpose cleaners on GLAZED tile.
  • On UNGLAZED tile use solutions concentrated with a neutral PH for basic cleaning. Avoid cleaning agents that contain color.
TIPS FOR PREVENTING DAMAGE
  • Test scouring powders and sealants on a test area before cleaning the entire space.
  • Seal grout joints after installation. When cleaning, use products recommended for grout joints.
  • Rinse tile with clear water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
  • Never use abrasives like steel wool or any scouring pads with metal on tile.
